COVID-19 update from CEO Ed Curtis

Summit Medical Group patients:

As the State of Tennessee prepares to reopen, I want to inform you about our plans to keep you and our staff safe.

Please review the following and assist our team by taking the necessary precautions:

  • - If you are concerned that you may have been exposed to the coronavirus or currently are experiencing symptoms, please call your primary care physician’s office. Click here for more information about signs and symptoms.
  •
  • - Please arrive for your appointment or any in-office visit at a Summit facility wearing a cloth or disposable mask.
  •
  • - Summit’s non-clinical staff will be wearing cloth masks at all times, and clinical staff will be wearing disposable masks around all patients.
  •
  • - Waiting rooms will be arranged to keep distance between patients. You could be asked to wait in your car if all the seats have been taken and you can call to check in.  Please let the receptionist know if you plan to remain in your vehicle until it’s time for you to be seen.
  •
  • - We will continue to separate well and sick patients by time of day and will schedule appointments accordingly.
  •
  • - We will continue to offer telehealth appointments by which you can see your provider virtually via video or phone. To schedule a telehealth appointment, call your doctor’s office directly; you also can click here for more information.
  •
  • - Regular wellness visits and appointments for chronic disease management are important for your health and should not be delayed or avoided. In addition, it is important to keep up with your vaccination schedules. Similarly, if you are unwell, we stand ready to treat your acute illness. We will continue to work to limit COVID-19 exposure while providing the regular and timely medical care you need.

Both City of Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon and Knox County Mayor Glen Jacobs have stated that their goal in reopening our community is to move carefully and thoughtfully. We have aligned our plan with their timeline and with the same consideration to protect our patients and staff.

Thank you for your cooperation as work together to limit the spread on COVID-19. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call your provider’s office or contact the team here at Summit.
