Sara Fulton named director of operations

Business and health care professional Sara Fulton has joined Summit Medical Group as director of operations.

“Sara is an experienced professional with a proven track record of producing significant results in operational performance, revenue enhancement, cost savings and process improvement,” Summit Medical Group CEO Ed Curtis said. “We are fortunate to have her on our team and to help Summit continue to provide value, efficiency and superior quality of health care across East Tennessee.”

Prior to joining Summit, Fulton served as vice president of operations for TeamHealth. She previously worked for 10 years with Community Health Systems in hospital and physician practice administration and at the corporate office as regional director of medical staff development.

While with Community Health Systems in Blue Ridge, Georgia, she was an active member of the business community and held several leadership positions, including Fannin County Chamber board member; Leadership Fannin Steering Committee; Northwest Georgia Regional Commission economic advisory council; and chair and vice chair of Fannin’s Future Steering Committee.

Fulton, a Knoxville area native who returned to her roots in 2014, is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). She resides in the Bearden community of Knoxville and looks forward to becoming an active member of the East Tennessee health care community.

Fulton is a graduate of Webb School of Knoxville. She earned her bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Tennessee.
