A Vaccine Delivery Update from SMG CEO Ed Curtis

Keeping our patients healthy, treating them when ill or injured, and caring about their well-being are our top priorities at Summit Medical Group. During this pandemic, you have trusted us as a resource and as your healthcare provider and we take that responsibility seriously.

Across the country, states are beginning to receive initial shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine. Supplies are extremely limited, so delivery and distribution are being performed according CDC guidelines, which give top priority to vaccinating healthcare workers and first responders.

At the local level, we don’t yet have a specific timeline for delivery. We are working closely with the CDC, Governor Lee’s office and the Knox County Health department as the delivery timeline and distribution guidelines are being developed. We will continue to work with these local, state, and national organizations to support our communities and ensure vaccinations are available to the general public as soon as possible. Once we have a specific delivery date, you will hear from us again.

We understand you may have questions and concerns regarding the vaccine and the distribution process. You can find more information about the vaccine and how the CDC is making prioritization decisions on the CDC website. We will also continue to provide updates and educational resources as more information becomes available.

In the meantime, we should all continue the 3 W’s – wearing a mask, watching our distance and washing our hands regularly – until we know how long the vaccine protects against the virus and we gain community control of COVID-19.

We are humbled by the trust that you place in us; we do not take it for granted and aim to earn that every day. We thank you for this and ask that you remain patient with us as we continue to receive information and instruction regarding the distribution of the vaccine. This pandemic is far from over, but there is a light on the horizon and the best of science and medicine will continue to guide us as we band together to put this pandemic in our rearview mirror.

We are grateful to you, our patients, for your confidence in us. It’s your trust that allows Summit Medical Group to do the remarkable — and for that, we thank you.

With gratitude and optimism,

Ed Curtis,

CEO of Summit Medical Group
