COVID-19 update from CEO Ed Curtis


Dear Summit Patients:

Effective today, Summit Medical Group has put into action a COVID-19 phone triage and testing plan to evaluate patients with respiratory symptoms and fever in accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. For applicable patients, the triage center will provide you with the time and location of your appointment. This will allow our clinics to continue to focus on providing quality care for all of our patients. All Summit locations are taking extra precautions to clean patient rooms thoroughly between visits and sanitize the entire clinic each evening. 

If you are concerned that you may have been exposed to coronavirus or currently are experiencing the symptoms, please call your primary care physician’s office. Please visit our website at to learn more about signs and symptoms. When you call your doctor’s office:

-You will be prompted to speak with a care coordinator who will assist and “triage” you via the phone in accordance with guidelines from the CDC and Tennessee Department of Health. -Those patients who are identified as candidates for COVID-19 testing will be offered an appointment at a designated Summit facility. -Please note that you cannot walk into these locations for a COVID-19 test; an appointment is required and must be scheduled by calling your doctor’s office first.

If you do not have symptoms or concerns related to COVID-19, you can continue to seek care through Summit as you normally would.

-If you have regular appointments, please keep those and go to your physician’s office as planned. -If you would like to make an appointment for annual wellness visits, routine checkups or ailments other than possible coronavirus, please call your physician’s office directly and proceed with scheduling. -If you need urgent care services, please call one of our Summit Express Clinics for assistance prior to visiting so that we can best assist you on where to receive timely care. This allows us to continue to serve all patients, while keeping potential COVID-19 patients separate from those seeking general or unrelated care. Our goal is to provide the appropriate care to each patient, while limiting the potential spread of disease.

The health and safety of all patients and family members, as well as our healthcare providers and staff, are – as always – our top priority. We will continue to share updates as available, including the integration of telehealth appointment options.
